Conservation Commission Minutes
January 25, 2012

Attending: Carol Irvin, Karen Day, Neal Brown

Roadside Roundup. The Roadside Roundup has been scheduled for April 21st.  Over the next month, Carol will contact the Woman’s club to determine whether they are willing to host the ham and bean dinner. She will also order the envelopes and determine the best approach to the postage stamps. Karen will contact NH the Beautiful for the bags and she has already reserved the Meeting House for the supper. Neal will work on the raffle prizes, including talking to the NorthEast café about their participation. Neal will also alert the GiVERs and that we have tentatively selected April 12th as the day we will stuff envelopes.

Programs. Carol reported back on her ongoing discussions with Janet Renaud about the Speaking for Wildlife series. This series wasn’t designed for children so that teaming with the library may not particularly useful. At this point, it isn’t clear how well attended the series would be, given the general lack of attendance at many programs begin held in town.  Karen would like to explore the possibility of getting the University Extension to do a program on raising chickens because many people in town are interested in having their own chickens for eggs and meat. Another idea is a program on saving seeds.  Karen will investigate these ideas with the Extension and report back to the group.

Adjourned at 8:45 pm.
